I wondered whether it was an update, but I don't know if both are set to automatically update, and if the update requires a reboot, that hadn't been done. They just won't sync all the notes that are already ON iCloud. They still both load shared notes created by me and others, they still both show some but not all of my folders, and they still both sync with iCloud with new Notes Which means they are syncing with iCloud. And they both started doing it within a day of each other. They just won't reload on the iMac or Air even after disconnecting and reconnecting Notes on both with iCloud. All the notes still exist on iCloud, and still show my phone. I can't delete them on my iMac or Macbook Air at this point because neither of them will even load them.

I am a little concerned that, according to the archiving link you thoughtfully included, my notes-which I do store completely on iCloud, not on my devices-cannot be downloaded/exported as a whole into some sort of archive. It seems, then, that if you really want to make sure iCloud contents are backed up, you need to store them on a computer, which in turn strikes me as a bit of a feedback loop. I actually meant to look into that, but now I don't have to. I actually wondered about that as I typed it, but thought perhaps the rest of iCloud contents were stored in ICloud Drive. The clarification on the Note/iCloud backup is appreciated. It can send TO iCloud, but it's not loading the existing notes that are there on iCloud.įor the time being I'm just using iCloud Notes instead of the app, but what the heck? So the issue ISN'T that Notes isn't syncing. What I just discovered now, though, which is really confounding me, is that I can create a note in the app on my iMac *and it SYNCS JUST FINE with iCloud and my phone.*

(My phone backs up every night, so hopefully that means even if my iCloud notes disappear, I have them backed up from my phone.) And again, all of my notes are still in iCloud. I can change something in Notes on my phone and it syncs like normal with iCloud. My phone has been fine throughout, fortunately. So I did the exact same process on it-disconnected and reconnected both in Notes and in System Preferences-and it did exactly the same thing as the iMac. I made some changes to some notes on it and *those* didn't sync with the rest. Then yesterday the same thing started on my Macbook Air Notes app. All of my notes are still on iCloud, but they won't flow into Notes on the iMac still, even after restarting the computer twice.

So then I went into System Pref's>icloud and >Internet Accounts, unchecked and rechecked 'Notes' on each of those, to see if that would re-link them.

They are there, and so are some of my folders, but NONE of my notes showed up. It just made all my notes disappear EXCEPT for the notes my wife created and shared with me. The first thing I did was go into Notes>Accounts>iCloud and unselected 'Notes,' then reselected it, thinking that would re-establish the connection. Those three were all consistent and had all the notes they were supposed to. That is, changes I made in the Notes app on my iMac never left it they didn't appear on iCloud, my phone, or the Air. Two days ago, after working flawlessly for years, Notes on my iMac stopped syncing with my notes on iCloud, my iPhone, and my Macbook Air. I've searched the support archives for what I'm experiencing and I'm not finding it.
